In Japan the art of aizome indigo dyeing has been carefully cultivated for centuries. We partnered with a family workshop that has honed this craft for over five generations hand-dyeing cotton fabric into countless indelible shades using fermented Japanese indigo (ai) that they have prepared by hand in decades-old indigo casks. With its deep blue vessel and carefully packaged in a box labeled with an indigo gradient design this special candle is an homage to an incredible palette of indigo to a time-honored craft and to the thoughtful hands that have mastered it across generations.
We like to think of CYPRÈS 21 as a cabin deep in the woods a hushed retreat out of reach of buzzing phones and blue light. An antidote to burnout. Bright resinous cypress is supported by an understory of spicy aromatics – juniper clove and star anise – all of them grounded by the warmth of incense and seductive spell of patchouli.
